Senior living communities is not a subject my siblings or I knew much about.  So when our mom was diagnosed with dementia, it felt like a daunting task to try and figure out the best place for her to live.  Fortunately, a friend recommended Senior Living Experts.  They took the time to explain the different housing options, and waited until they met my mom before recommending places that would be the best fit for her.  They steered us toward a community that she loves – which, considering how often she complains, is an incredible feat.

Throughout the experience, we were treated wonderfully, with all questions answered and all information conveyed in a timely, professional manner.  But what impressed us most about Senior Living Experts was this:  When our search took us out of the area where Senior Living Experts works, they were just as resourceful in finding good housing options, even though it meant they would not have been compensated for their time.  It showed me they put my mom’s well-being above anything else, and it meant a ton to us.

My mother did her best at 75 years of age to give care to her husband of 55 years.  As a family we determined that the best thing for all of us and the safety of my father was to find a home that could support him and care for him in a manner that any human being, regardless of age and capacity, deserves; one that shows dignity, respect and unconditional love. 

The first home was selected without the assistance of a professional like Lisa Sneddon.  It was stressful, energy draining, emotional and a huge time commitment.  Unfortunately, my father did not respond well to this environment.  After one month, we were strongly urged to find another home. Due to the circumstances, we were given approximately five days to arrange the move.
 
Our family did not want to go through this emotional roller coaster again especially feeling that we already had failed our husband/father.  We decided to get a professional involved as you would a real estate agent, business broker, etc.  We were referred to Lisa Sneddon at Senior Living Experts.  Our conversation was efficient and effective.  She listened to our story, our concerns and our recent outcomes.  Lisa was compassionate, loving and professional.  She kept us focused on the issue at hand, heard our constraints and limitations.
 
Lisa told us that she would get back to us within 24 hours of our initial meeting with suggestions and from there we would determine the plan of action.  Lisa called us 24 hours later with recommendations.  Our request was that she handle all logistics for visiting facilities, making the appointments, etc.  We had approximately four to five days to visit new facilities, meet the personnel and get a comfort level.  Lisa did NOT give us a list of 10 places to review: she was concise and precise in choosing the facilities.  This minimized time, emotion and stress determining the next home for my father.  Our expectations were managed well, which allowed us to focus easily on the task at hand and make the most informed decision possible.
 
Today my father is in a safe space from himself, in a safe space to others and is responding positively to his new environment.  We as a family are in a more peaceful place and not hanging on to the edge of our seats waiting for the telephone to ring about another incident involving my father and his “acting out” due to his ailment.  Without Lisa I’m not sure I would have been able to maintain perspective throughout this effort. 

Lisa operated within a code of honor that is the highest level of client service and commitment: 1. She did what she said she would, 2. She finished what she started, 3. She was on time, and 4. She said please and thank you.  No question we would recommend Lisa Sneddon and Senior Living Experts to anyone without hesitation.

I don't think you know the wonderful reaching out that you have provided to us. She is acclimating well to her new home. This will probably give her more time here on earth! My mother is declining and we've been hunting for the right care for her.  Someone who has been absolutely invaluable in our process is Lisa Sneddon from Senior Living Experts.

Lisa knows the options for senior living (and there is a mind boggling number) thoroughly.  She was able to provide us with information on facilites meeting our parameters (including price) and even volunteered to help us tour facilities.  I would estimate that she saved us months of research and digging.

If anyone has an elderly parent or relative who may require care, I can't recommend her and her services highly enough.
